Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in the north of Thailand are favorites for tourists who travel in Thailand. However it might be worthwhile to visit Loei in the north east of Thailand. It shares some similarities with Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in terms of culture and scenery. Loei is the coldest province in Thailand and the mists and fog that envelope this area add to the beauty of the scenery during the cold season. If you would like to see a distinct Thai culture while experiencing natural beauty then this is a must visit. This province is also less touristy then it's northern cousins, offering a more authentic look at Thai culture.

Island Paradise

Thailand has many islands that are beautiful retreats and perfect examples of what the term tropical paradise means. A visit to any one of Thailand's islands is a must when you travel in Thailand. Phuket island is a well known island with many beaches and plenty of resorts, be warned that it is a popular destination. Other islands such as Koh Chang are still not as well known and if you would like a quieter environment then this is an island worth visiting.

Movie buffs might get a kick out of the two islands in Thailand that have served as locations for movies. You can visit the James Bond Island which featured in the 1974 Bond movie, 'The Man with the Golden Gun'. The movie 'The Beach' was shot on the Phi Phi islands and aside from this novelty is a choice spot for snorkeling and diving due to its clear waters.
