The British Indie Band Named Daisy Chainsaw

In the late nineties up until the mid-nineties, Daisy Chainsaw was Alternative Band that was active on the Punk scene. The band got its start when the original singer, Katie Jane Garside, answered an advertisement that had been placed by Crispin Gray, a guitarist.

Katie Jane Garside, born in 1968, was a singer and lyricist for Daisy Chain. With Katie on vocals, the band released the "LoveSickPleasure" album, which had the hit single "Love Your Money" on it. Daisy Chainsaw had many followers and despite the band's popularity, the band members turned down a chance to appear on the British program named "Tops of the Pops". Later, the band also turned down the pop singer Madonna's offer to sign Daisy Chainsaw to her Maverick record label. While the band with the indie label called One Little Indian, the band released an album called "Eleventeen".

All the band members of Daisy Chain were British. Besides Katie Jane Garside as the vocalist, other band members included Crispin Gray on the guitar, Richard Adams on bass and Vince Johnson as the drummer.

The influential band was known for its exciting show in which Katie Jane Garside would sing in stained dresses. Katie Jane Garside is considered one of the first Riot Grrls. When Katie Jane Garside left the band in 1993, Daisy Chainsaw released a second album with Belinda Leith as the main vocalist.

Changing Band Members

After Katie Jane Garside left Daisy Chainsaw in 1993, Daisy Chain released "For They Know Not What They Do" in 1994. The first album with Belinda Leith was followed by the "You're Gruesome" album in 1995. After this second album with Belinda Leith, Daisy Chain split up as a band.

Three of the band members joined up to create the new band named Dizzy Q Viper. This band split up eventually and formed again under the name of Vapid Dolly. Later on, the band was reformed. Richard Adams and Vince Johnson left the band. Katie Jane Garside joined the band, which was named QueenAdreena in 1999.

The drummer for QueenAdreena is named Billy Freedom and the bassist is Orson Wajih. The band released an album in 2000 named Taxidermy. In 2002, Pete Howard replaced Billy Freedom. Katie Jane Garside's sister, Melanie, briefly joined the group as a bassist and was replaced by Paul Jackson and finally by Nomi Leonard in 2006.

Daisy Chainsaw continues to have fans around the world. Daisy Chainsaw's influence on the music world continues to leave its mark and the old band gets new fans all the time.
